Suela Kusi

Suela Kusi, an Albanian National, is the senior expert on institutional changes related to EU Integration and the trainer on EU accession related subjects.

She studied the European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization, receiving an E.MA Degree awarded by the University of Padua; Ca’Foscari University of Venice (Italy); RUHR-University, Bochum (Deutschland); and University of Duets, Bilbao (Spain). Since 2010, she holds a PhD Degree from University of Tirana, Faculty of Social Sciences on “Principles and modalities in measuring child poverty in Albania”. 

Since 2005 she has been the senior lecturer at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Social Sciences for the MA programme in Gender Mainstreaming and Development, in the courses: “The Universal system of Human Rights Protection” and “Development Theory”.

She is the former Senior Ministry official in charge of EU Integration, and from 2007 – 2011 she has served as director of European Integration and Coordination of International Cooperation and Senior Program Officer for the EU DIS project, in the Albanian Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, responsible for ensuring the effictive co-ordination of the EC assistance instruments and foreign aid to directly support the Government’s priorities in the field of tourism, culture, youth and sports.

She has extensive experience in designing and delivering trainings related to EU affairs and EU law to public administration institutions, analysis of HR training and development needs (TNA), development of ToT technical curricula, organization of ToT strategies (including study visits and internship as well trainings on EU acquis and EU occasion related issues.

Mrs. Kusi has intensive experience in EU funded projects. This experience includes mainly capacity development and institution building projects in support of the civic or public sector. Performed activities include: overall project management, including project design and proposal writing, project implementation, budgeting, reporting, communication with donors and stakeholders as well as project monitoring and evaluation.

Mrs. Kusi has lengthy experience in designing and implementing communication activities concerning the EU integration process and related hot issues for various target groups. Mrs. Kusi has been an active member of different working groups entitled to write various National Strategies and Policy Papers in the field of social protection, child rights promotion and protection, youth participation, and women empowerment.

Ružica Gelo, Senior International Expert on EU Integration

Ruzica Gelo represented the Government of the Republic of Croatia and was appointed negotiator for Chapter 11: Agriculture and Rural Development, Chapter 12: Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Policy, Chapter 13: Fisheries and Chapter 28: Consumer Protection and Health. She was responsible for preparation of Croatia’s Negotiating Position; fulfilment of 18 opening and closing benchmarks and coordination of transposition, implementation and enforcement of acquis for relevant chapters.

Ms. Gelo was involved in the process of negotiations for Croatia’s membership in the WTO, CEFTA and conclusion of the SAA and free trade agreements on behalf of the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture. She also coordinated activities within the Ministry of agriculture (PIU) for the implementation of EU pre-accession funds: CARDS, PHARE, SAPARD and IPA.

Ms. Gelo held the position of manager within the Croatian Chamber of Economy, being in charge of international economic cooperation, economic diplomacy, promotion of FDI and investment opportunities in Croatia, participating in programming and implementation of European structural and investment funds.

Ms. Gelo studied agricultural economy at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad and Zagreb and at the Wye College, University of London.

Ms. Gelo has lectured on different topics and worked as adviser and trainer on the EU issues in Croatia and countries in the region.

Ms. Gelo brings the experience of a new EU member state, such as Croatia, and is an advisor on European integration process.

Albana Jorgo- Office Manager

Albana Jorgo

Albana Jorgo, an Albanian national, holds the position of Office Manager at SMEI 3 Project. She has a Bachelor Degree in General Finance from the University of Tirana, the Faculty of Economy. She has a Master Degree in Business Administration from Regent University, Virginia, U.S.A.

Ms. Jorgo has an extended working experience in international funded project, including EU funded project and other International Organizations. She has a wide experience in office management and administration, accounting, event coordination and organization, translation/interpretation, etc.
